Wasps kicked off to start the match, and after the first five minutes Watford gradually gained control of the match and were pushing up to the Wasps 22 yard line. Watford were awarded a penalty 15 yards in from touch and decided to tap and run and go for the try. Wasps forwards defended stoutly and the move was repelled. 2 Minutes later Wasps again conceded a penalty, this time 22 yards out, but right in front of the posts. Again the tap and run and again Watford failed to score. A third penalty was awarded, and this time Watford elected to kick for goal, from out on the left near touch, but the kick was wide. Wasps regained ground and at this point both teams had chances to score, but it was Wasps who made the breakthrough with 3 minutes to go to half time, when they were awarded a try after it seemed that Watford had held the ball up. Wasps duly converted the try. The half time sore was 7-0. Watford started the 2nd half in much the same way as they ended the 1st half, in that that Watford had most of the play in the Wasps half, but were unable to turn possession into points. For 20 minutes Wasps were restricted to a couple of breakaways, until from one such breakaway Wasps scored their 2nd try and conversion. With only 2 minutes left Wasps scored another try, but missed the conversion, making the final score 19-0. Overall Watfords failure to score, saw them lose the match after having had 80% possesion and most of the game in the opposition half.
