Vicarage Road Kick Off 15:00 Headline News... Saracens score six of the best in half century Bath win... Saracens notched up a very impressive 55-23 victory over Bath on Sunday afternoon scoring six tries earning them a welcome bonus point. The win lifts them into sixth place in the Guinness Premiership with man of the match Glen Jackson playing a starring role landing 23 of the points with his boot. The visitors went into an early lead through the boot of Olly Barkley but then the lead changed several times when both sides scored through Kameli Ratuvou and Nick Abandanon. With ten minutes remaining in the half Bath were in front 10-16 but when Saracens moved up a gear the visitors couldn't keep up and a Matt Cairns try was quickly followed by a Jackson penalty and Saracens went into the break 23-16. The second half was one way traffic with Saracens crossing the line four more times through Kevin Yates, Ben Johnston and a brace from replacement Rodd Penney to bring up the half century. By the time the full time whistle sounded Bath had been long beaten and the crowd, as well as the players, had enjoyed their day out in the autumn sunshine. Glasgow last faced Saracens three seasons ago when the Men In Black narrowly made if through on aggregate over the two games in the knockout stages of the competition - and Warriors Head Coach Sean Lineen is out to make amends when he brings his team to Vicarage Road on Sunday, kick off 3pm. The head to head meetings between the two clubs stand at 1-1, with the Men In Black marginally ahead on points. "We played Saracens in the 2003 / 2004 European Challenge Cup and, while we lost 37-6 at their place, we beat them 33-5 in Glasgow," said Lineen. "We were only denied going through to the quarter-finals because they had that +3 better points difference over the two legs, which was very disappointing." While that is in the past, Lineen is looking to go one better this time and admits his side is looking to regain some confidence in time for the trip to Watford. He added: "This season we started off really well in the Magners League match against Newport Gwent Dragons but then the wheels came off and, although since then we have won all our home games, we have struggled on the road and that has hit our confidence a bit. "However, Sunday provides us with a great opportunity to challenge a top English club and we are really looking forward to going to Vicarage Road. We have seen a number of their games and they have class players right through the side. "Saracens are playing with a lot of confidence and in Glen Jackson they have an outstanding No 10. They also have tremendous speed out wide and are certainly playing a high tempo game - coach Alan Gaffney is getting a lot out of them right now and their big win over Bath Rugby at the weekend was impressive. "But we have quality players of our own at Glasgow and wing Thom Evans, who joined us from Wasps in the summer, is a 21-year-old with fantastic potential. "Our forwards are fronting up nicely and Alastair Kellock, the Scotland lock, is leading from the front. At hooker Fergus Thomson is keeping international Scott Lawson out - which says a lot - and John Beattie is going extremely well in the back row." Player News... Jackson moves in to top spot... Glen Jackson's 23 points against Bath on Sunday saw him become Saracens leading points scorer in Premiership rugby - and the fly-half is looking for more of the same as the focus now turns to the European Challenge Cup and the visit of Glasgow Warriors on Sunday, kick off 3pm. Jackson now has a total of 392 points for the Men In Black in league rugby since joining in mid-way though the 2004/05 season and his kicking at the weekend saw him surpass Gavin Johnson's previous best points tally. Jackson now has 77 points in the Guinness Premiership this season - just three behind leader Charlie Hodgson and both fly halves share a goalkicking percentage rate of 83%. And the six-try display from Saracens against Bath also saw the side become the leading points scorers in the competition with a total of 157 from the five league matches so far. "That performance against Bath was something that we needed to do," explained Jackson. "We'd not been performing as we would have liked but we showed what we can do when we put things together. It was a good team display and something we are very pleased with." While Jackson and centre Ben Johnston may have grabbed the headlines in Monday morning's papers, the display from Neil de Kock also saw him in the running for the Man of the Match award. Although he's only started two games, de Kock seems to have struck up an almost instant understanding with Jackson. "Neil's a quality player," added the fly half. "I've played against him a lot in the Super 12 competition and I know how good he is. He's adapted to the English game pretty quickly and that's not an easy thing to do for players coming from overseas. It's great that he's done that but we also have two other good scrum halves at the club in Moses Rauluni and Alan Dickens so competition is pretty tight in that area." Jackson was also quick to praise the display of the forwards. He added: "I think if you asked the guys they would be the first to say that things haven't gone well for them in that area. But they were fantastic against Bath and the lineout in particular was excellent. They did a lot of work in that area during the week and it showed. "Now we want to keep up that level of performance against Glasgow on Sunday. It's a competition that as a team we want to do well in and we'll be taking it very seriously. You are playing against some quality teams and it is a good way to secure Heineken Cup qualification for next season if you win it, but we know it's not going to be easy." Community News... Saracens match against London Wasps in the final pool round of the EDF Energy Cup has been moved from Sunday 3rd December at 3pm to Friday 1st December at 7.40pm (NOT 7.45pm). As the two matches in each pool need to kick off at the same time, this fixture switch has been made at the broadcaster's request to accommodate BBC Wales to screen the Cardiff v London Irish game live. Saracens helping to tackle the national obesity problem..... Last week the Health Profile report was realised highlighting that Britain is the most obese country in Europe. Prime Minister Tony Blair commented on this report on BBC Breakfast, he said: "I have to say it is to do with poverty. It's to do with diet, it's to do with exercise. It starts at school and it starts with what parents feed their children." He said it was the government's job to raise awareness of the importance of a healthy lifestyle. But he added: "The government cannot do it all." Saracens Foundation is helping the government by using our brand and access to players to help engage children in how to lead a healthy lifestyle. One of the main campaigns within our Sport for Health Programme is the Get Active Challenge. The challenge begins with a whole school assembly with the children watching a DVD of the Saracens players giving their top tips on how to be physically active for 1 hour every day. These tips include the following: In-School.... 'Break time was always a great opportunity to take part in some kind of sport or physical activity, such as skipping, hopscotch or other fun tag games.' (Don Barrell) After-School.... 'Whenever possible try to use the stairs instead of the lift, it will help raise your heart rate, and keep you fit and healthy.' (Richard Houghton) 'Why don't you go to your local park, you can play lots of activities from playing frisbee, rounders, or even a game of touch rugby.' (Ben Russell) 'This weekend why don't you help out around the home by doing some cleaning, washing the car, or hoovering whatever; all these activities help keep your heart rate up.' (Simon Raiwalui) 'Me and Glen Jackson play squash against each other at least once a week as it keeps us very fit and gives us a break away from rugby.' (Kevin Sorrell) 'If you don't like racket sports like me why not try something totally different like judo, karake or trampolining?' (Dan Scarbrough) The Sport for Health Programme also consists of a Healthy Lunch Assembly, and a PSHE lesson looking at eating a balanced diet. Again the players provide the children with top tips on how they can do this. For example Ben Broster suggests that you should eat a colourful lunch, eating fruit and vegetables of a variety of colours to make sure you get a range of vitamins and minerals. The Sport for Health Programme works across Hertfordshire, Luton and Barnet, in an attempt to halt the year on year rise in obesity.
