Watford Under 8's - Worthing Mini Festival

Watford Under 8's travelled to Worthing on Sunday to enter their Mini's Festival. With over 1,500 hundred children playing in all age groups from Under 7 - Under 12 Watford knew that they would be facing some very stiff opposition. With 16 teams entered into the Under 8's age group Watford's pool consisted of themselves, Tunbridge "B", Sevenoaks and Brighton. With these clubs having a much bigger player base than Watford it was a real credit to the squad that they managed to win all of their group games and progressed to the semi final of the main cup competition.

In this they faced Tunbridge "A" who had looked one of the better teams all day. The game went right down to the last play all level when Tunbridge managed to get the decisive score right on full time to progress to the final and become the eventual winners. The boys were naturally very upset at having lost such a close game but coach's Simon Prout and Mark O'Shaughnessy were delighted with how well the boys had performed to finish 3rd in such a strong competition, and reminded all of the squad that they had all contributed and played excellent rugby against teams that would normally expect to beat them. It was an excellent day for the boys and thanks should be given to all the parents that made the long journey on Mothers Day for all the support that they gave the boys.

Squad:Max Gilbert, Harry O'Shaughnessy, Henry Capell,  Aidan Tearle, Dejon Noel-Williams, Patrick Addison, Johnny Stangroome, Christopher Haydon, Jack Garvin and Joshua Maney.
