Saracens 37 - 5 Watford 1st XV
|
Watford entered this, their second league game with high expectations
after a good first league win last week. The Watford pack started
brightly, but after numerous penalties and five minutes camped on the
Saracens line Watford were unable to score.
After Saracens cleared their lines they were able go on the attack
generating quick ruck ball to feed their young back line. The Saracens
back row stayed out and acted as extra backs giving them large overlaps
which led to their first two tries; both were unconverted. At this
stage Watford were stuck in their own half unable to get any
possession. Saracens scored two more unconverted tries before the
break. After the turnaround Watford started the brighter taking the
ball to Saracens and getting over the gain line. The Watford pack
started to make inroads and rumble forwards. A quick penalty saw the
ball released out wide for Watford's Adam Johnson to go crashing over
for their only score. Saracens scored twice more out wide to go thirty
points to five up. A defensive mix up near the end of the match allowed
them a score right under the post which they converted. Watford will be
hoping to carry the determination shown into their next 2 league games.
