Watford’s first county cup game of the season and Stevenage kicked off. Four minutes later Sam Wood scored for Watford making an early score of 0-5. Watford missed the conversion. During an entertaining end-to-end period Stevenage were awarded a penalty for offside, and decided to kick, but missed the goal...
Then Richard Munday crossed the line again, but the ball was adjudged to have been held up. The next score wasn’t until 21 minutes later when after some pressure Watford’s Bryn Williams crossed the line for a try. Watford again missed the conversion leaving the score at 0-10 at half time. Watford kicked off and for a 10 minute period of Stevenage pressure Watford’s defence held firm. Watford then came back into the game and 5 Minutes later Watford’s Captain Richard Munday scored the third try of the match. There followed a period of open play with Watford fully committed and searching for another try. During this period there was number of changes of personnel to Stevenage, due to injuries, but Watford could not break through the Stevenage defence for another try leaving the final score at Stevenage 0 -Watford 15.
