Watford U14’s 56 - 10 Harrow U14’s - 12/03/06

Harrow started the match and for 5 minutes it was an even contest, with Watford’s pack having the greater effect and gaining ground, with Harrow countering by kicking and running the ball, back to Watford. Soon Watford took command of the rucks and made their play in their own half. After 8 minutes of play Watford scored their first try when Ben Wilkinson was fed a ball out of ruck and crossed the line to score. Ben Green scored the 1st of his conversions from 15 yards. The next try came 4 minutes later when from good play Tom McDonough crossed to score. Ben Green duly recorded the extra points from converting the try. 3 minutes later Watford who were now rampant scored again when Sam Wood fed Richard Munday who ran 40 yards sidestepping 3 players. Ben Green again converting.  Matt Williams scored Watford’s fourth try 5 minutes later and Ben converted.
Richard Munday scored again just before half time and Ben converted with his best kick of the day, 10 yards in from the touchline, making the score 35-0.

Watford started the 2nd half and within 2 minutes Richard raced 30 yards to the try line being chased by 2 of the Harrow backs who could not catch him. Ben scored his 6th conversion kicking into the wind. Harrow dug in and their forwards were trying to make ground, which paid off when Harrow scored 10 minutes into the 2nd half. 5 Minutes later though Watford scored again through Richard Munday with Ben Green converting. Harrow then scored again, but again missed the conversion from 5yards in from touch. With just a few minutes left Richard passed the ball out to Warren Dunsford who scored his try running in from inside his own 22 yard line. Ben Green kept his impressive record converting his 8th conversion from 8 attempts. Bryn Williams was unlucky not to score when he collected a kick in his own half and ran 10 yards upfield before kicking from hand and chasing the ball, and kicking again twice more whilst being chased by a Harrow player. The ball was eventually kicked behind by a covering fullback to deny what would have been a great try to end the match. The final score was 56 -10 to Watford.
