So we had our first game today and even though the result (20 -10) did not go our way, their were plenty of positives to be taken out of the game.
The fitness was the best it’s been in a long long while. The tackling was ferocious and we held up well in a game against well drilled oppo from the league above.

I think on the day, we gave old Old Millhillians the win. They capitalised on our mistakes, took their chances and ultimately made us pay.

There are 3 weeks until the big one, our first league game. It’s obvious we are not quite where we need to be. We need too again up the training on and off the pitch. After our performance the coaches can now see what we’ve got to work on. We need too make all the training sessions leading up to the Thamesians match, too perfect our game and iron the issues out.

The RFU committee will now look at the situation (The fact they did not have a front row) and decide which team goes through to the next round. The ref said it will most likely be us, so we can look forward to another encounter from a team in the leagues above.

Although this was not the start to the season we wanted, we can hold our heads up high for everybody gave it 110% and yes there is plenty to improve, but there was also some awesome WRFC rugby on show.

It was a proud pleasure to skipper this side today.
Lets work hard over the next few weeks to get that big league win.

See you next week.

Rick.

P.S. - For those of you that don’t know, Mr Martin Lee is fine after his injury. The good people at A & E have put a impressive looking support on his leg and he will hopefully be back playing in a matter of weeks rather than months.
Also, Andy Lee, who for good measure broke a rib and a finger is also fine and should be back playing sooner rather than later. Very well played lads until you broke yourselves and thanks Andy for stepping in at the last minute.
