About Watford Rugby Club

The purpose of this web site is to provide information on the club and teams to players, parents, friends and relatives or anyone interested in becoming involved with the club and to provide a vehicle for club communications through our “Club Forum”.

Watford Rugby Club was formed in 1973 following the demise of West Herts RFC and Sun Postal Rugby Club.  Our Club House and ground is at Knutsford Playing Fields, Radlett Road, Watford. The Club gained the Seal of Approval and Club Mark accreditations in 2007 and continue to hold these accreditations.  We are an extremely friendly club spending as much time, effort and money on socialising as we do on training and playing Rugby.

Our club has an extensive range of youth teams ranging from under 7s to under 17s and senior sides for those over 17.  We provide quality rugby coaching and playing opportunities for young and old rugby players alike in our area. This allows player to enjoy a safe, fun, learning and playing environment in order that they can develop their skills, keep fit and active and have fun.

Our Mini, Midi and Junior sections train and play most Sundays throughout the season, with some of our older teams also training mid-week.  Our junior teams play league games in the Herts & Middlesex Leagues and play frendlies against other clubs within Hertfordshire and Middlesex.

Our senior section currently runs 2 sides; our 1st XV play in the Herts & Middlesex Leagues and currently, following a league re-organisation, play in Herts & Middx 3.  Our 2nd XV play in the West Hertfordshire & North Middlesex Merit Tables - league 5.  Our senior sides train on Tuesday and Thursday Nights 7.15 for a 7.30 start.  League, Merit and National Cup games are played on Saturdays; Herts Presidents Trophy games may be played on Sundays.

If you don’t play but enjoy socialising then why not join our social members who enjoy a drink and a chin wag and watch the match.  Come along on match days and enjoy the atmosphere.
