Hi boys! Well what can I say - I have been reading all your commets and I am so glad you are wanting to help!
It will be a great day, loads of women (alll fully clothed, sorry - well maybe a bit of lycra!) running and walking 5km to raise money for Cancer Research UK. We are hoping to get 5,000 taking part and to raise £360,000.
The day istself is put together by myself and a team of volunteers, with volunteers it would not happen. There are many aspects of the day, from early morning set up(6am!) to handing out medals, setting up the course, heavy lifting etc so I know that your big muscles will be a great help!
It is up to you much or how little you would like to get involved, it would be great to have you for some heavy lifting and in the finish funnels, handing out water, goodie bags etc, congratulating the women with a smile, maybe a kiss on the cheek and an exchange of phone numbers as they cross the finish line.
I will be rewarding you with free food and a drink, what more could you want.
Plus, as mentioned to Neil, I would love to get a piece in the paper about your involvement, maybe a picture?!
Let me know your thoughts or if you have any questions.
Thanks! x Kiss

All maybe the club could make a day of it.  We could all go down and help setup/massage/clean up the event; encourage wives, girlfriends and other female varieties to walk/run the 5K (we could even sponsor them Huh) then back to the club for a BBQ and piss up etc...just a thought.  I know Holly would probably walk 5K if she thought there was beer at the end !!!

That sounds like a grand idea! The more women taking part the better, hopefully the sun will shine and BBQ's and drinks can be done after.
If you were to help from early, you would be done by 2pm at the very latest, so a nice afternoon or beer and food - rememberingt o reduce the risk of course with plenty of water in between each beverage and wearing sunscreen!

Hey guys,

I am back, I hope you all had a good weekend.

I have spoken to the journalists at the paper and they are really excited about getting a story and a photo of you to put in the paper.

They would like to speak to your partners/relatives etc that are taking part?! and also to you to find out how you are going to support them!

Neil- please can you let me know if you would like to take this forward and if so, what dates and times suit you? Maybe a training night?

Let me know your thoughts. x Kiss

My only thought is that a training night would not be good light for the photographers from the paper!!!!

Guys what are the intentions, when are people about free, whose mrs are tempted to run etc etc etc etc...

Neil, I'll e-mail rebecca and get the low-down on what will be required.  There apprears to be no immediate threat to the realm, our soverign territories or any significant operational stuff, therefore, I have a little spare time !!!!

ALL

I have a reply from Rebecca as follows:

"Many thanks for your e-mail and your support to 'Race for Life'. It really is appreciated.
As for lady participants, it is £10 to enter and then there is no further commitment to min. amounts that need to be raised. It can be as little or as much as your like so there is no pressure.
To apply, they can either call the hotline number 08705 134314 or go online to www.raceforlife.org"

I will put together a list of all the lads available to support the event.  I'll also put a list of the girlies willing to participate to get numbers together.  I'd suggest that the girls log themselves into the race and pay £10 and the club could put together a combined sponorship form to sponsor the lot of them.  I'll register Holly before she has a chance to object and just a note to potential participants; she will definately be walking 5K !!!!

Please get in touch to let me know who's up for what otherwise I'll see you on saturday.

 Cool

We need more volunteers for 2nd July; both players and girlies....it's only one Sunday out of the year to do something good for someone else.  Get your shit together and let me know if you canhelp organise with the lads or participate with the girls...........
