WATFORD RFC TOUR 2007 - SWANSEA
« on: January 12, 2007, 09:57:56 PM »

I will be finalising some details in the next week for a tour to Swansea to play Gowerton RFC (Welsh South West 5).  The tour will follow a similar format to last years, leaving on the morning of Friday 11 May, returning during the afternoon of Monday 14 May (a weekend which convieniently coincides with El Capitano's birthday on May 12....again !!!).

I'm looking at accomodation in an 18 bedroom B&B on the Swansea sea front next-door to a pub and about a 10-15 minute walk from the town centre, however, I have to book the whole place so if there are less than 30 tourists, the accommodation costs will remain at £2700 (and there may be some double bed sharing).  George has already been informed that if he tours, he will be bringing his own sheet and trev is providing a childs plastic sheet for the impending swamping.  I will require a £900 deposit to secure the accommodation asap.

I'm aiming to keep costs as low as possible, but for an initial stab and to get numbers so people can start paying, i'm looking at £150 with a £50 deposit or monthly payments as appropriate.  If it works out slightly cheaper then I'd suggest a larger beer fund !!!

I have also approached a few individuals for potential tour kit sponsorship and again, I'm looking to provide a Polo and Playing shirt for each tourist depending on final tour costs and the level of sponsorship .  This year we will play in the playing shirt, due to a colony of hungry moths consuming last years unwashed first team kit post tour !!!

Please let me know asap if you would like to tour as I am aiming for 30 tourists for the finances and it is first come first serve and there are only 29 places left !!!!

This year, I will not be standing for tour fines master but may take on another executive role to make your lives hell, although I will be chatting to some prominent club individuals who are specialists in this area.

As the tour organiser, I welcome all suggestions for tour content....just don't expect me to act on them if they are shit !!!!

 Cool

Tour Update 2:

Received confirmation from Gowerton RFC of the fixture this morning and have confirmed our reservation with the B&B:

http://www.devonview.co.uk/

They need £900 as a deposit, so I need depositis of everyone asap.  Please bring what you can afford either tonight at training or to the game on Saturday.

There are still 23 tourists so the last 7 places are still up for grabs........and beer fundraising needs to start in earnest.

Hello lads greetings from your hosts Gowerton RFC!
Looking forward to seeing all you lads down in the beautiful seaside resort of Sunny Swansea!
We have several museums, gyms and cultural attractions around Swansea City Centre or failing that perhaps you would care to take a stroll around one of the coastal paths in the Gower! Whatever you decide to do I'll be in the pub!
I'll arange with Mark to meet you guys at your B&B on your arrival date and take you to the main bars and clubs to get your weekend off to a good start.
We will be fielding a mixed club team to play your touring side at 14.30 on the saturday, following that we have arranged food and refreshments at our club house before ensuring your captain and birthday boy is suitably warmed up for his big birthday night out!
anyhow i'm not going to ramble on any more, good luck with your fundraising and I will see you all in Swansea!
Holty!

Morning! Greetings from sunny Swansea once again!
Just a quick update for you, at present we look to be playing saturdays fixture at a neighbouring clubs pitch T.B.C. due to the time of year our pitch and the pitches at the local sports centre will not be available due to the cricket season! Our official club big mouth Moff is at present approaching a few clubs 5 mins away from our club house to see if we can nick their pitch for a few hours! I will be in touch with Mark Patterson asap to confirm the venue!
We will all still be meeting and returning to Gowerton RFC's clubhouse as planned, transport to and from the playing field will be laid on by us, probably a number of cars!
cheers and see you in 3 weeks!
