STATE OF PLAY
« on: August 10, 2007, 09:11:27 AM »

Gents, after a calculation last night we have seen 23 players over the summer. This is just about enough for one squad. There was a lot of fuss made about having 2 new kits for the coming season, so these were purchased. We are now left in the position of potentially being a one team club with 2 brand new kits!

Anybody care to shed some light on what is going to happen bearing in mind the second team have a league fixture every week up until christmas and the first team also have league commitments. Rubbing my crsytal ball i predict we are not going to fulfill one of our league obligations.

Team mates,

there seems to be a constant theme appearing here. The people who have volunteered to run your club, I.e. Chairman, Captain, Vice Captain, Coach are very politely and regularly asking for your help to improve our team by coming to training, or at the very least make a phone call, send a text or use our fantastic website to make contact and let us know how you are, and if you intend to play this coming season.

Do you realise how much work goes on behind the scenes to keep this club open for YOU, do you care?

If you intend to play but don't want to train, or if you think you are good enough already, no problem, just let us know and we can work with it.

If you want to train but can't, no problem, just let us know.

Any club in our league can look at our site and at the moment I can hear them laughing and thinking that they will get an easy 4 points from us. Not going to happen.

If you do not like the way training is run, or how things work in general, do not moan and undermine the club, come and talk to me and we can work out a solution. If you are just lazy, fine, get down the club and buy beer instead, there are lots of ways you can help without doing anything.

Any way, rant over. But I hope the message has got across.

PLEASE SUPPORT YOUR CLUB.

An update on top of what Mandy and BT have said:

Welwyn Tens

We have decided as a playing committee not to attend this tournament, and will now be gearing up for the club trial against the 'wood on Saturday 25 August.

If you would like to know our reasoning behind this decision you are more than welcome to ask one of the playing committee, or lads that are standing in for absent members, at training where we will run through our reasoning.

Thanks

responsibility cant be left with pete or chris, as a club we all have a duty to make an effort. there are consistent trainers and none trainers.trev is right in what he says. training should be a first at least once a week!

just to say that I appreciate the effort that goes into keeping the club alive/afloat and although i haven't been a frequent attendee to pre-season i will be making the effort during the season and that includes training. Thanks to all those fellas who work behind/in front of the scenes. Looking forward to the new season.

Cheers Cockney (jamie 2s).
