Should WFRC get some Gym kit organised
« on: November 26, 2007, 12:23:29 PM »

Ive been thinking for a while on purchasing some old second hand Gym kit.  Ive spoken to Sharpie and one of the changing rooms 'could' be used as an impromptu Gym area, or we can store it and take out when needed.  I see this as a way for some of us to beef up a bit at near to no cost, and it could strengthen a few team ties so to speak.  A bench and some free weights to begin with.  Are you in or out?

May i suggest that the terms of the lease be checked for a definition of use for the changing rooms as i doubt this would be allowed.

Thanks to the three people that took the time to vote.  Out of 52 views to the post only 3 votes kinda says it all.

Thanks again.

I think a bigger problem in using the changing rooms would be the floor and their ability to withstand any extra use, and as the girlie backs would probably drop most weights I think this would be a no.

There is also enough crap in the changing rooms as it is, to add any more would mean Pete etc getting to the club at 10 am just to empty them so we can use them, as changing rooms!

Sorry to sound a bit anti this idea, i am all for people doing additional work. Maybe a generous person will donate their garage!

See you at training tomorrow

As an alternative to weights in one of the changing rooms (good idea by the way Scotty), there was a time where we used to do a variety of training techniques, these included boxing training in the clubhouse which was very popular (i think Big Frank used to do it) and also strength building stuff like using the beer kegs as weights to do presses and stuff like that, by using some of the stuff that we've already got down the club (e.g. using tackle bags as punch bags etc) we can get improve overall fitness and bulk up at the same time. I'm with Hansome.... Sorry Big Gay Bear!!! Wink

We need to think outside the boxwith what we've got (Great idea though Scotty) and as Trev said it would become a bit of a hassel lugging the equipment in & out.

Boxing, Circuit training, etc.....

We only need to hold on a little while until the new facility is built then we could use that?!?!?

Lads

These are great ideas and such a great response.  But have you ran any of this though a committee member.  Who is going to fund it?  We are trying to raise funds for the new changing rooms - what are you doing about that? What are the health and safety implications.  We have a CLUB license not a GYM.

All your ideas are great but why do none of you take an active role in club development, fund raise etc.

You club needs you.

Fair point Bren.

We all need to take responsibility for our club and the process needs to be a bit more organised. ie. going through the committee.

Is there still a GYM area planned for the new changing rooms??  If so was Gym Equipment budgeted for??  If not then there is an avenue for people to get behind this idea.  But it needs to go through the committee.
