Kick it i can!
|
May i suggest that anybody that wishes to discuss selection issues speak to Trev a Director of Rugby, Carlton as Senior's Coach, Pete as Club Captain and Chris as 2nd team Captain. This is not the place to discuss this. My only comment to this is that every selection can be justified. End of discussion.
For the lads that have made positive contributions, great to hear, let's hear more of them as there are not enough at the moment. Thank you guys for the effort on Saturday, as i said at the time the key to improving is TRAINING

Gentleman, I had resisted the urge to comment but having read all of this I feel I must say something and as 2nd team vice/acting captain.
I have played for Watford 30 years and the thing that kept me playing was the fact that it always was Watford, no player no team was bigger than the club. There are no clicks no favorites etc,and you always put 100% into each game whoever you play, and everybody played and socialised through the club.
When you commit to play for Watford you play for that honour, we need to remember nobody will join a club who's main team is playing lowest league rugby despite a 2nd team winning promotion to play Hertford 6th , by the same token we are all in this together and that goes for any player whatever side you play for to bring the best rugby to Watford.
Remember you wear the Watford shirt is doesn't wear you....

Gentlemen
Calm down.
As a player that has been at the club for some 15 years I consider myself a junior senior member. Others have been at the club longer and I'm sure they can relate to what you are going through, we have been through it all before and have come out a better club.
The club is going through a turbulent time at the present, both on and off the pitch. We are all proud of our club and we all want the club to do well and progress.
Myself being a grafter and not a lot of natural talent, but trained hard to enjoy, have played at most levels for the club from 4th to 1st team rugby. The 1st are in Herts Middlesex 2 - which believe it or not is quite a competitive league at this level. The 2nds are in the lowest Merit Table group and are doing well - but again struggled to get a full 15 for Saturday. Having played 1st team rugby for 1-2 seasons towards the end of my playing days I can tell you that there is a big jump from 2nd team to 1st team rugby even at our level. At this level a fitter team will always do better than a half-fit team.
The 1st are missing a few crucial players from last season, players that made a difference, players that pulled everone else up a gear. The teams that came down from HM1 are stronger and those that came up are eager. We just about held our own last season and probable could/would have gone down were it not for the fact that Chess Valley pulled out - Oh look they had a bad-time last season, possibly worse that we are having but they threw in the towel! Are we? No we are not because we are stronger.
Consolidate what we have, play for next season, we are not that far behind the 2nd & 3rd bottom teams in our league two wins will move us up, we can pull through.
Play for the club not for yourself. Play with PRIDE and Passion play for the shirt.

Nicely put clubman.
I think personally the key at the moment is training as most people have pointed out. There is a very big gap between the two teams, and training is the only way to close that gap.
As I said in the first post, this topic was not meant to upset anyone - though it seems apparent it has, so apologies for that.
I will raise any future 'concerns' individually next time.
Cheers all,
Odds

Lets go on tour again !!!!
|
Players of Watford RFC Looking at the state of things from a Canadian perspective, there seems to be a lot of moaning and bitching about the state of various aspects of the way the club is being managed from a players perspective and the especially the first teams season to date; the seconds seem to be doing well...again, well done lads keep it up !!! I had a really good last 2 years at the club and still follow your results closely, anyway, it's about time that under the leadership of the Director of Rugby, all of you (emphasis on ALL) sat down and hammered out the issues, if you're not honest with each other face to face then what’s the point ranting in cyberspace when only IT savvy people read it Undoubtedly the same issues will arise, comitment to the club, Training, Player Selection, excuses for not making training & playing....blah blah blah blah. At some point everyone has to miss training and games for one reason or another, you need to sort your shit out individually and as a club and move forward quickly otherwise the firsts will be relegated back to the obscurity playing the rugby of 2 seasons ago, and that wasn't great. Subsequently, that takes away the motivation for the seconds to want to play in the firsts and then players leave to better clubs....Gents it's a slippery slopel you're on and I really hope you can sort it out, especially as I want to come on tour with you at the end of the season and it would be really handy if there was a club with players to go on tour with !!! Last point, if you're not committed to the club....easy....leave ! Thats the end of my rant, now go have a good Xmas, you have half a season to turn things around......it's been done before so the impetus lies with you, the players. It wasn't that long ago that we were arguing about being promoted out of this league not being relegated out of it !!!! Mark
