A contract has recently been concluded between the club, Mick Mealing and Paul Wiles, in which they will be managing all aspects of the bar and most of the internal services (i.e. cleaning and minor repairs).
This is an excellent deal for the club, because it takes away all the worry and management problems that the bar brings and the enormous drain on committee time. The deal is based upon Mick and Paul paying fixed sums of money to the club quarterly and they will take the profits.
The rugby club though, will be receiving booking fees for each function. This is where the membership comes in. The more functions Mick and Paul sign up the more money the club will receive, therefore it is imperative that you as members of the club make every effort to ensure that you publicise this service to all your friends and family. Publicity literature will be produced and available at the bar very soon, so when you are out and about please use this material to drive business up. We want the club to be hired out every week day and every week end. There is a shortage of halls for hire in the area and with your help we will fill that gap. Hopefully this will then be a great financial success for both parties to the deal.
We currently have some vacant positions:
A fund raiser or a small team of people willing to sell scratch cards after games and help with the Saracens tickets etc.
House manager someone who has some building knowledge that can organise others or carry out themselves such items as repair of guttering, external painting etc. This post is paramount as it is in our current lease and will be factored in the new lease, the requirement to keep the building in good order.
Social Secretary a person or persons that can organise some discos, race nights, card nights or any other event (even if just a one off) to get the place going, whilst enjoying that excellent beer from the Marlow Brewery.
Happy season
